Kansas City hate crimes increase in ’07
“Amy,” 28, Kansas City, had lived with her 7-year-old daughter in their neighborhood about two years when some teenagers began harassing her daughter because her mom is a “dyke.”
One afternoon, one of the teenagers took off her belt and hit her daughter with it. Their house was vandalized, their back window shot out.

Announcer Davis broadcaster for all seasons
An 11-time winner of Kansas Broadcaster of the Year honors, Bob Davis is working in his 12th season with the Kansas City Royals this summer and his first as a voice on the Royals Radio Network.
In addition to his duties with the Royals, Davis has served as the voice of the University of Kansas Jayhawks for 24 years.
This past school year Davis covered the 2007 football Jayhawks all the way through their Orange Bowl victory over Virginia Tech, then trailed the work of their basketball counterparts during the roundball version’s run to the national championship and dramatic win over Memphis in overtime in the national championship game.

‘Beauty’ casts spell at Theatre in the Park
“Beauty and the Beast,” one of Disney’s most popular musical fables, has returned to the Shawnee Mission Theatre in the Park.
Jordan Houghton leads the cast as the comely and bookish Belle. Desiring more from life than her provincial town can offer, Belle eschews the advances of the vain Gaston (David Martin) and eventually is imprisoned by a frightening beast (Todd Burd).
The show boasts an award-winning score and the cast delivers it with verve. Houghton is an especially comely Belle, displaying a strikingly lovely voice to match.
Follow California’s lead - allow gay marraige
The pictures from California showed happy couples smiling from ear to ear as they obtained their marriage licenses and went through marriage ceremonies at city halls throughout the state.
While weddings are one of the happy times in life, these weddings came with a whole bag full of controversy because they were same sex marriages.
