Injury accidents

Phillip P. Liebnitz, 44, Paola, was driving a 1995 Ford F-350 pickup truck south on Oxford Road south of 283rd Street at 5:54 a.m. June 25 when he attempted to avoid a deer and lost control of the vehicle, which hit a concrete bridge rail, according to a Miami County Sheriff’s Office report. Liebnitz suffered non-disabling injuries but was not taken to a medical facility. He was not wearing a seat belt. Liebnitz was charged in Miami County District Court with failing to report an accident and not wearing a seat belt.

Accidents reported

Parker S. Staats of Paola was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger north on Somerset Road at 6:41 p.m. June 21 when he hit a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Rebecca R. Booth of Paola, who was traveling west on 303rd Street and attempted to turn south onto Somerset Road, according to a sheriff’s office report. No injuries were reported. Staats, Booth and Booth’s three passengers were wearing seat belts.

David W. Bueker of Osawatomie was driving a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria north on U.S. Highway 169 north of 231st Street at 5:09 a.m. June 26 when he hit a rock that ripped a hole in his gas tank, according to a sheriff’s office report. Bueker was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

Nancy A. Day of The Woodlands, Texas, was driving a 1996 Buick LeSabre south on Plum Creek Road north of 407th Street at 5:32 p.m. June 26 when she fell asleep and lost control of the vehicle, which hit a culvert. Day was not injured. She was wearing a seat belt.

Mauricio L. McCoy of Mission, Texas was backing a 2007 tractor-trailer into loading docks along Kansas Highway 68 east of Somerset Road at 10:54 a.m. June 30 when he hit a parked tractor-trailer, according to a sheriff’s office report. McCoy was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

David G. Renberg of Paola was driving a 1996 Ford Contour north on Lone Star Road north of 303rd Street at 11:45 a.m. July 1 when he lost control of the vehicle, which drifted off the road and hit a cement bridge pillar, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Jordan A. Petillo of Paola was driving a 1998 Acura Integra south on Hedge Lane south of 295th Street at 3:30 p.m. July 1 when he lost control of the vehicle, which hit two road signs and a mailbox, according to a sheriff’s office report. Petillo was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

Jerry D. Huffman of Wellsville was driving a 1994 Buick LeSabre north on U.S. Highway 169 south of Indianapolis Road at 9:36 p.m. July 1 when he hit a deer, according to a sheriff’s office report. Huffman was not injured. He was wearing a seat belt.

Offenses reported

Donna M. Burkhart of Osawatomie reported a riding lawn mower and mailbox were damaged at 31930 W. 379th St. between noon June 13 and 11:15 a.m. June 26. The damage estimate is $525.

Harold L. Stults of Osawatomie reported a wooden door was damaged and an Army uniform was taken from 34120 Pressonville Road between 5 p.m. June 18 and 8 p.m. June 22. Total loss is estimated at $150.

Daniel J. Matula of Louisburg reported a mailbox was damaged at 26430 Spring Valley Road between 11:35 a.m. June 24 and 12:24 p.m. June 25. The damage estimate is $50.

Gary W. Haynes of Paola reported four dogs with a total value of $500 were taken from 34560 Victory Road between 6:20 and 10 a.m. June 25.

Connie S. Gast of Louisburg reported a door frame and window blind were damaged and four pieces of jewelry and several coins were taken from 3845 W. 239th St. between 7:20 a.m. and 6 p.m. June 25. Total loss is estimated at $580.

Sharon M. Jacobson of Louisburg reported a door was damaged and a television, coins and other items were taken from 4325 W. 239th St. between 3:06 and 4 p.m. June 25. Total loss is estimated at $1,010.

Deborah A. Blancarte of Louisburg reported an oven and wooden table were damaged at 24540 Mission Belleview Road between 7 and 7:15 p.m. The damage estimate is $500.

Clint L. Doherty of Paola reported the hood of a 2003 GMC Sierra pickup was damaged at 29380 Hedge Lane between 2 and 2:30 a.m. June 28. The damage estimate is $800.

Jennifer N. Doherty of Paola reported a vehicle hood was damaged at 29380 Hedge Lane between 4:46 and 5:19 a.m. June 28. The damage estimate is $1,000.

Carolyn A. Vohs of Bucyrus reported an aluminum mailbox was damaged at 23900 Jingo Road between 3 and 3:15 p.m. June 28. The damage estimate is $25.

Richard J. Wrigley of Louisburg reported a metal mailbox was damaged at 26295 Spring Valley Road between 8:32 and 8:45 a.m. June 29. The damage estimate is $75.

Hilary J. Dedrick of Paola reported a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am was damaged along West 271st Street near Louisburg between 2 and 2:05 a.m. July 1. The damage estimate is $100.

Tara M. Folsom of Osawatomie reported a television valued at $1,700 was taken from 36509 Bethel Church Road at 5:25 p.m. July 1.

Booked into jail

Everett V. Lewis, 51, was booked into the Miami County Jail on June 25 for an alleged probation violation.

Jason J. Carter, 18, was booked into jail on June 26 for an alleged probation violation.

Christopher S. Melvin, 25, was booked into jail on June 26 for allegedly failing to appear in court.

Chelsey L. Folsom, 18, was booked into jail on June 27 for an alleged aggravated robbery.

Gary K. Fortner, 43, was booked into jail on June 28 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Reed J. Mayes, 20, was booked into jail on June 28 for allegedly purchasing or consuming alcohol as a minor.

Robert W. Doherty, 55, was booked into jail on June 28 for allegedly damaging property.

Wesley L. Deremus, 46, was booked into jail on June 28 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and transporting an open container.

Brian R. Qualls, 28, was booked into jail on June 28 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Richard E. Smith, 44, was booked into jail on June 29 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Sha-ron E. Leach, 30, was booked into jail on June 29 for allegedly driving with a canceled license.

Charles M. Lavery, 26, was booked into jail on June 29 for allegedly driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
