Legislative Breakfast Series starts Saturday

Johnson County Public Policy Council, which is comprised of nine Johnson County-area chambers and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, is sponsoring a Legislative Breakfast Series to enhance the communication and exchange of information between the business community and the Johnson County state legislative delegation.

The series takes place at the Ritz Charles Overland Park, 9000 W. 137th St. Breakfast is served at 7:30 a.m. At each of the five breakfasts, legislators will offer legislative updates, discuss issues and answer questions from the audience.

Although subject to change, scheduled dates and speakers are:

* Saturday, Jan. 23; Sen. Karin Brownlee; Reps. Lisa Benlon, Ray Merrick, Jill Quigley and Arlen Siegfreid.

* Saturday, Feb. 27; Sen. Jeff Colyer; Reps. Marvin Kleeb, Cindy Neighbor, Gene Rardin and Kay Wolf.

* Saturday, March 13; Sen. Tim Owens; Reps. Pat Colloton, Mike Slattery, Sheryl Spalding and Ron Worley.

* Saturday, March 27; Sen. Julia Lynn; Reps. Dolores Furtado, Lance Kinzer and Kevin Yoder.

* Saturday, April 24; Sen. Terrie Huntington; Reps. Milack Talia, Owen Donohoe and Mike Kiegerl.

The breakfasts are open to the public but require pre-paid registration by 5 p.m. on the Wednesday prior to each breakfast. Cost per breakfast is $20 for chamber members; $25 for non-members. A discounted package to attend all five breakfasts is $95 for chamber members when paid by noon Jan. 20. To register, call 491-3600.
