Warm up with Science City, Exhibits & Movies at Union Station Get the kids out of the house and have fun together this weekend (Kansas City, Mo.)—Don’t let the cold and snow get you and your family down. Union Station is open Friday and all weekend with lots of great activities, exhibits and programs for the whole family. Plus, the Station has covered parking. Leave home and forget about battling the snow to find a parking space. Science City is open 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday. Admission on Saturday is just $5 after 5 p.m. as Science City presents Weather Night at the Station featuring an interactive weather show, book signing, star shows and Mad Science weather demos. Sunday hours are Noon to 5:30 p.m. Regular admission to Science City is $9.50 per person. Chocolate, The Exhibition has been extended due to popular demand! More than 12,000 have seen this exhibit created by the Field Museum in Chicago. The exhibit is now open through Monday, Jan. 18. Free chocolate samples on weekends. Visit the exhibit this Friday, Saturday and Sunday and receive a FREE cup of hot chocolate at the Harvey House Diner. Visitors can show their ticket at the Diner to redeem offer. Exhibit tickets are $7 for children and $9.50 for adults. Or see the exhibit and Science City for $15. How about popcorn and a movie on the largest screen in Kansas City? Escape to the heat of the Grand Canyon in the movie Grand Canyon Adventure: River at Risk in 3D or get lost in the landscapes of Europe with Van Gogh: Brush with Genius. This weekend is the last chance to see Andy Warhol Portfolios: Life and Legends at Union Station. The exhibit closes Sunday, Jan. 10. To meet demand, the exhibit is open late until 9 p.m. both Friday and Saturday nights. After 5 p.m., enjoy a FREE glass of wine. More than 1,500 have attended Wine and Warhol evenings during the run of the exhibit. “People in the community have asked for more evening entertainment options at Union Station,” said George Guastello, president and CEO of Union Station. “The Wine and Warhol events exceeded our expectations, more than doubling our attendance projections. About Union Station Union Station Kansas City is a historical landmark and civic asset renovated and reopened to the public in 1999. It features a science center, national traveling exhibits, the region’s only 3D giant screen movie theater, live theater, shops and restaurants. A bistate cultural sales tax, the first of its kind in the country, funded nearly half of the $250 million renovation. Union Station is a nonprofit 501c3 organization. The Station is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. Union Station Kansas City, Inc. also operates the Kansas City Museum in Kansas City’s historic northeast neighborhood.
