The Olathe Board of Education voted unanimously Thursday to appoint Marlin Berry the next superintendent of Olathe District Schools. Berry will succeed Superintendent Patricia All, who will retire at the end of the school year. Berry begins his position July 1. “We are very pleased to have a professional with Dr. Berry’s extensive experience and capabilities to lead our district into the future as we continue building on the successes of Olathe District Schools,” School Board President Rita Ashley said in a statement. “The Board of Education believes that Dr. Berry’s collaborative style of leadership will greatly benefit the district as we continue to be challenged by reductions in funding while fulfilling our mission of preparing students for their future.” Berry is assistant superintendent for general administration. He joined the Olathe school district in 2007 after 16 years as superintendent in Abilene and Smoky Valley Public Schools. His career in education spans 32 years and he has served as a high school principal and assistant superintendent of schools.
