The Blue Valley Educational Foundation hosts its fall session of the biannual event “Charitable Chicks” on Thursday. More than 25 vendors will offer jewelry, clothing, handbags and home decorating items during the event. Many of the vendors are parents of Blue Valley students, Blue Valley Education Foundation Executive Director Kate Allen said. “They are able to share what they do with the Blue Valley community in a way that helps teachers in their classrooms,” Allen said. “It’s just a great collaboration.”The foundation is usually able to raise about $3,000 from every Charitable Chicks event, Allen said. Vendors keep their profits, but make a tax-deductible donation to the foundation. The proceeds help fund district-wide programs and teacher grants in each of the district’s 32 schools. The Atlanta Bread Company will serve breakfast and lunch items. Strollers are welcome. Charitable Chicks will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday in the Blue Valley School District office gym, 151st Street and Metcalf Avenue. Shoppers can enter a drawing to win $250 for their school of choice. For more information, call Laura Harsch at 239-4109.
