Children can explore the world of reptiles with author and herpetologist David Nieves at 9 a.m. at the Johnson County Museum of History, 6305 Lackman Road, Shawnee. Nieves created Reptile Education and Research, a facility dedicated to the study of reptiles and amphibians. He travels to other countries to learn more about the creatures and photograph them. His photographs can be seen in his children's books "Reptiles Up Close" and "More Reptiles Up Close," which will be available for purchase. Leawood Arts Council's "Grinnin' & Groovin'" series continues with a presentation of Marvels in Motion by Mad Science of Greater Kansas City at 9:30 a.m. at Ironwoods Park amphitheater, 147th Street and Mission Road, Leawood.
