The volleyball right-side hitter/setter earned Most Valuable Player at the Manhattan Tournament on Oct. 11 and helped the Stags fend off St. Thomas Aquinas in dual match competition Oct. 14. The victory over the Saints gave the Stags the East Kansas League title. The Stags topped Olathe East 25-20, 25-16 to win the Manhattan Tournament title. In the tournament and dual victory, Workman boasted a hitting efficiency of .381 and serve percentage of 97, along with 28 digs. “Shelby has been a great asset to our team,” Miege coach Gwenn Pike said. “Her freshman status has not kept her from being a consistent offensive threat on the court. Shelby has the potential to be an outstanding player.”
